학생 때, 연습장을 하나 사면
맨 앞에는 항상 그 당시 내가 좋아하던 팝송 가사를 적어두곤 했었다.
(노래를 좋아한게 아니라 가사를 좋아했다는 말임)

몇번째 연습장인지 모르지만
하여튼 그 중 하나에 이 “Piano Man” 가사를 적어둔 적이 있었는데

뭐랄까, 이 가사를 보면
인생이란 열심히, 그러면서도 즐겁게 살아야한다는 생각이 든다.

…다행히 그렇게 살아온 거 같다.

단골들이 몰려 들어오고
한 노인이 내 옆에 앉아있습니다

어떤 멜로디였는지 확실하진 않지만
아마 슬프면서도 달콤했던 것 같아
내가 한창 때는 완전히 외웠던 곡이거든”

마이크에도 맥주 냄새가 나네요
